A grateful Heart for the Faithful Journey

Golden Jubilee of Sr. Elma Joseph FMCK

A Life Offered in Faith, Love, and Service

“The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.” (Psalm 126:3)

With hearts full of gratitude and praise, the Franciscan Missionaries of Christ the King rejoiced in celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the religious profession of Sr. Elma Joseph. This sacred milestone is not merely a remembrance of fifty years, but a living testimony of God’s abiding grace, faithfully embraced through a life of consecration.

From the day she responded to the Lord’s gentle call, Sr. Elma has walked steadfastly in faith, embodying the words: “Here I am, Lord; I come to do Your will.” (Hebrews 10:7). Her journey has been marked by dedication, discipline, and a quiet strength that reflects deep union with Christ.

As an educator and leader, she has served with distinction as Principal in India, Sri Lanka, and Sharjah. In every place, she carried not only administrative responsibility but also the tender mission of shaping young minds and nurturing hearts. Her service has always been rooted in the Gospel spirit of humility and love, echoing the prayer of St. Francis: “Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.”

At present, as the Assistant General of the Congregation, Sr. Elma continues to guide and inspire with wisdom born of experience and a heart attuned to God’s will. Her life stands as a beacon of fidelity, reminding us that “those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength” (Isaiah 40:31).

A special grace in her vocation is the presence of her two sisters, Sr. Theresia Joseph and Sr. Brigida Joseph, who share the same consecrated life. Together, they witness to the beauty of a family wholly given to God—a quiet yet powerful sign of unity and divine calling.

The Golden Jubilee celebration was filled with joy, simplicity, and deep thanksgiving. It was a moment to honor not only Sr. Elma’s personal journey but also the faithfulness of God who sustains every vocation. Truly, “we love because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19).

As we celebrate this blessed milestone, we thank God for the gift of Sr. Elma to the Church and to the Congregation. May the Lord continue to bless her with good health, renewed zeal, and abiding peace. And may her life continue to inspire many to listen, to respond, and to walk courageously in the path of consecrated love.

Hearty congratulations to you Sr. Elma.

Sr. Vandana Solanki FMCK
